Kinja'd!!!

This is how I saw this weekend. I finally took a long trip around my girls dad’s house and property - the place we are seriously looking to move to after we bank some money for a few years. House is free to us, and likely what you see will be left. RamblinRover had told me last time we talked how the best plan would be to take all this stuff and make unholy creations till the end of time. I cannot even begin to fathom what could be built off just this one property worth of metal (out of 3). Maybe I can make a New Englander out of him yet. Enjoy my walkaround and point out anything you recognize (or any unholy creation you can think of). I really need to learn my pre-war stuff. There are barns full of engines, lots of flathead stuff, old Buick V8’s, 283s. We should almost have an Oppo commune up there. Tons of land, noone gives a crap about project cars or 50 laying around. Cheap taxes, trails etc. I have another post coming up with my Invicta trials and tribulations...

It’s all in the spelling - litre, not liter! And also, the use of litre rather than cubic inches...

Anyway, RamblinRover’s right, looks like a Ford Prefect.

DIBS ON THE SHOEBOX. Sounds like magical candyland to me. This summer I’ll try to get pics of the junk on my father in law’s plot in Yosemite Valley. There’s a flathead buried in the sand, an old Chevy coupe shot full of holes & buried up to its axles in silt, the back of an old Jeep in the river, and other neat stuff. Nothing of this awesome scope & scale though.

Some people would find stuff like this and pay you to haul it away. My dad used to haul junk cars and people would pay him to show up in his truck and haul there stuff away and he’d strip out what he wanted and scrap them and get paid again.

Not sure how much. Maybe 20% over Fair Craigslist Value (FCV), maybe 40%, or maybe only 80% of the market. It would depend on how he felt that day, and how he was disposed to you. In my case, stating that I would go back 100% factory original (which I would) would probably help my price, because the guy has become an originalist and grew out of a hot rod phase in his youth. How I’d convince him, I don’t know, because he would probably remember me as He Who Does Monkeyshines With His Ranchero.

Definitely still would like to Maine Trip things.

I enjoyed them very much; as I said, they’re nicely composed. You have a good eye for a photograph. I especially like the one of the backseat with the sun in the back window.

There may be a setting on your phone that is overexposing everything on purpose. The setting would be called EV, for exposure value . If your phone has that setting for the camera, it may be set to +1, completely accident. I’ve seen the EV get adjusted by mistake a number of times before.

(End of unsolicited photography lecture.)

I once tried to pull a Toyota Stout pickup and a Panhard Dyna (!) from a similar looking old farm in western Mass once. It was a “if you can get them out of here, you can have them” deal. The Panhard quickly split into two pieces and the Stout had become one with the earth, so they stayed. Made for some cool photos that I should try and find. This was in the pre-digital era.
